Frequently asked questions

What does App Lock do?

It shields the apps and websites you choose behind a quick, healthy “gate” — a breath, a study question, push-ups, a kind text, and more — so you open them on purpose instead of on reflex.

How do I unlock a blocked app?

Open the app you shielded. App Lock’s lock screen appears — tap Study to Unlock, tap the notification that slides down, complete your gate, and you’re in for your earned time. No Shortcuts setup is required.

The lock screen appears but I can’t reach the gate.

Make sure notifications are on: Settings → Notifications → App Lock → Allow Notifications. The unlock relies on that one tap.

How do I add or change which apps are blocked?

Open App Lock → Home → “Apps & Websites” → Add or edit, then pick apps and websites in Apple’s Screen Time picker.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. On your iPhone: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → App Lock → cancel or change. You can also restore a purchase from App Lock → Settings.

Is my data private?

Yes. App Lock works entirely on your device. No account is required, and your progress, picks, and verification data never leave your iPhone. The optional “Mindful minute” lock reads your Apple Health Mindful Minutes (read-only) only to confirm a Watch breathing session — it’s never written or shared.

How do I delete my data?

App Lock → Settings → Delete account erases everything stored on the device. Deleting the app also removes all local data.
